Russia bans import of sour cherry and cherry from Afghanistan and peaches and nectarines from Somali because of suspected smuggling of such products, the Russian veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.
Temporary restrictions are introduced on import of such products to Russia through third countries as well. Measures are taken in connection with deliveries of quarantineable products not supplied earlier from Afghanistan and Somali via EU member-states, Rosselkhoznadzor said.
The decision was made “for purposes of preventing import of agricultural products under response economic measures established by Russian President in respect of EU nations”, the Russian regulator said. (TASS/Business World Magazine)
