In January-May seaports of Ukraine handled 55.609 million tons of cargo, up by 4.5% YoY, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 42.971 million tons (+4.7%), imports – 7.880 million tons (+14%), transit – 4.309 million tons (-1.9%), inland traffic – 448,000 tons (- 49.9%).
The highest results were demonstrated by port Yuzhny – 18.47 million tons (+6.6%), Odessa – 10.41 million tons (+1.6%), and Nikolayev – 9.77 million tons (+6.5%).
In the reporting period, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 12.1%, to 4.77 million tons, including 1.407 million tons handled by Yuzhny port (-14%), 1.33 million tons by Nikolayev port (+32.6%) and 0.97 million tons handled by Odessa port (+23.4%).
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 40.31 million tons (+8.7%), including 16.51 million tons handled by Yuzhny port (+8.1%), 7.46 million tons by Nikolayev port (+10.4%), 4.74 million tons by Chernomorsk port (-6%) and 4.29 million tons by Odessa port (+11%).
Container throughput in seaports grew by 2.4%, to 245,522 TEUs, including 210,255 TEUs handled by Odessa seaport.
From the beginning of the year, seaports of Ukraine handled 4,607 vessels (-6.6% YoY). (Portnews/Business World Magazine)
