In the first month of season 2016/2017 (September) Kazakhstan exported 355.16 KMT of wheat, up by 1/3 YoY (260 KMT).
The key destination markets for Kazakh wheat in this period included its traditional importers: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan, but with substantially increased shipments for this time of season.
Shipments to China also grew considerably. Kazakh exporters supplied roughly 17.3 KMT to China in September 2016 against 2.3 KMT in September MY 2015/2016. In addition, Kazakhstan continues shipping wheat to Turkey (7 KMT against 5.9 KMT).
Due to expanding wheat production in the country, analysts forecast export availabilities to increase by 33-35% in 2016/2017 YoY, to 4.8 MMT. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
