According to official data, in August Ukrainian barley exports grew by 17% YoY and equaled 1924 KMT against 1019.5 KMT.
During the first two months of 2016/2017 (July-August) Ukrainian exporters shipped 2204 KMT of barley, which was an absolute record for the period in question.
Traditionally in August Saudi Arabia lowered its purchases, importing 371 KMT against 523 KMT in the previous month. Libya continues to increase imports of Ukrainian barley, purchasing 377 KMT in July-August against 124 KMT over the same period of 2015/2016 (over the whole 2015/2016 – 446 KMT).
Moreover, all the key importers purchased higher volumes of Ukrainian barley during the two months of 2016/2017: EU, Algeria, Israel, etc.
Ukrainian exporters managed to increase shipments to the market of Tunisia, exporting 102 KMT (27.5 KMT over the same period of 2015/2016 MY), as well as to ship higher volumes to Jordan, Morocco, UAE and Turkey.
Lower export activity is seen in the destination of China, which so far remains among the top 3 buyers of Ukrainian barley. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
