Russia will lift the ban on deliveries of all fruits and vegetables from Egypt except for potato, Russian veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.
“Parties reached an agreement following the meeting on resumption of fruits and vegetables supplies from Egypt to Russia, except for potato, provided that the Egyptian side meets all Russia’s requirements in terms of phytosanitary purity of lots”, the Russian authority said.
The Russian delegation of experts will visit Egypt in October-November to evaluate efficiency of measures undertaken by Egypt to comply with Russian phytosanitary requirements to potato supplies.
“The protocol pertaining to potato export from Egypt to Russia will be reviewed during that visit”, Rosselkhoznadzor said.
Temporary restrictions on import of vegetable products from Egypt were introduced on September 22, in view of continued supplies of quarantineable products unsafe in phytosanitary terms. (TASS/Business World Magazine)
