In August Ukraine exported 2851.2 KMT of wheat, up by 50% YoY (1892.8 KMT). Over the first two months of the current season Ukrainian exporters shipped 34% more wheat than over the same period of last season (3575.5 KMT against 2662.4 KMT in July-August 2015/2016).
Thailand became the key importer of Ukrainian wheat with purchases of 560 KMT. South Korea was also among the leaders, buying almost 50% of the total volume imported in 2015/2016 (426 KMT against 1013 KMT in 2015/2016). This season India began to import Ukrainian wheat. In August 193 KMT were shipped in this destination. Egypt remains among the key export markets as well, though export volumes over the reporting period lowered by 17% compared to July-August 2015/2016 and equaled 327 KMT.
In the first two months of 2016/2017 Ukraine demonstrated record high paces of wheat exports. But export potential this season will be 7-8% lower compared to the record volume of 2015/2016. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
