If Russia closes its market to Armenian products, the European Union will open its 450-million-consumer market to Armenian goods, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
In addition to economic guarantees, von der Leyen said the EU also planned to make significant investments in regional connectivity projects.
“We have allocated EUR 200 million, which, through leverage, could be increased to as much as EUR 2 billion. These investments are important for strengthening connectivity across the region,” von der Leyen said.
Pashinyan welcomed the European Commission president, noting that this was her second visit to Armenia in the past two months, which, he said, demonstrated that bilateral agreements were being translated into practical action.
According to Pashinyan, EU support has increased public confidence in Armenia-EU cooperation. (PanARMENIAN)
