Simonas Bartkus, head of Lithuanian Airports, is leaving his position on July 3.
The company said his departure was mutually agreed.
“The company’s board and I see that the next stage of Lithuanian Airports development requires a different leader. And I need to prepare for take-off from another runway,” Bartkus wrote on Facebook.
Lithuanian Airports, which managed the country’s three international airports in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, announced an international competition to select a new CEO.
“With the board focusing on the next phase of the company’s strategy implementation, an international competition is being announced for the position of Lithuanian Airports CEO,” Gediminas Almantas, chairman of the company’s board, said in a statement.
During Bartkus remaining months as CEO, he and the board will focus on “a smooth and sustainable handover of duties” to the new director, the company says.
Almantas said the competition was expected to attract candidates with international experience who “could raise the bar by continuing the growth of the Lithuanian airports network”, improve the country’s air connectivity, and implement planned infrastructure development projects.
Bartkus has led Lithuanian Airports since August 16, 2023. (LRT)
