Authorities of Uzbekistan have confirmed their readiness for the republic’s membership in the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Kuchkarov has announced.
The republic has already applied for membership in the bank as a shareholder. In turn, the Chairman of the Board of the EDB Nikolay Podguzov said that the coordination of Uzbekistan’s accession with the bank’s shareholders was already at an advanced stage. He stressed that the bank was expecting expansion for the first time since 2011.
“We are also an observer in the EAEU. The government of the republic is doing a lot of preparatory work on joining the EAEU,” Jamshid Kuchkarov said.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial institution carrying out investment activities in the Eurasian space. It includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
