Uzbekistan has slightly improved its position In the Competitive Industrial Performance Index 2021.
According to the rating website, being placed 94th Uzbekistan received a score of 0.017. The country remained in the quintile of states with a medium-low level of industrial development, but was able to improve the indicator by one position.
In terms of Central and Western Asia Uzbekistan was placed 11th among 22 countries, rising by two positions, as well as the fifth among the CIS countries.
The country’s positions in terms of the share of production value added in GDP (from 0.372 to 0.439, plus 4 positions) and industrial exports per capita (up by 3 positions) have significantly improved. The share of medium and high-tech activities has also increased (from 0.192 in 2018 to 0.271).
At the same time, the share of industrial goods in exports decreased (from 0.276 to 0.22, by 6 positions) as well as the share of high technologies in industrial exports (from 0.367 to 0.35, by 3 positions).
The index was led by Germany (0.460), China (0.386), the USA (0.353), Japan (0.352) and South Korea (0.347).
The Competitive Industrial Performance Index is calculated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). It is published every 2 years with a delay of 2 years. (Uzreport/Business World Magazine)
