Board Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia Wojciech Balczun has said that international operations of the company should be stepped up.
He seeks to create the UZ Cargo International brand within six months, Balczun wrote on his Facebook page, commenting on the board’s action plan presented to the Infrastructure Ministry by him on July 25.
“The main goal of our steps in the next six months will be fighting corruption, in particular, via the introduction of transparent tender procedures. The specifications of tenders that are being prepared for the implementation of projects will allow us to become as market-suited as possible”, he wrote.
Balczun wrote that much attention would be paid to changes in passenger transportation, preparations for the modernization of rolling stock, launch of new trains and improvement of services for passengers.
“From the trivial – the cleanliness of trains – to increasing the quality of service to tourists”, he said.
“The principles of the plan to restore normal operations in passenger transportation have been prepared and will start being implemented soon. In cargo transportation, our initiative aims at removing corruption, including the non-transparent distribution of wagons”, he wrote.
He added that in coming months a pilot software system would be organized. It will automatically distribute wagons between clients, which will make corruption impossible. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
