The consolidated index of production of goods and services in Ukraine in January-June rose by 2.2%, GDP growth is estimated at 2.5% plus or minus 0.3%, according to data released by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
The ministry said the increased consumer and investment demand amidst the improved business and consumer sentiment, as well as the expanded financial capabilities of enterprises and households made a positive contribution to the growth of the index.
Along with the domestic demand, the index was also supported by the external sector.
At the same time, industrial production and agriculture continued to show negative dynamics.
According to the ministry, in future the positive dynamics of the index will be supported by the continuation of economic reforms and improvement of business expectations, growth in consumer activity with rising wages, and rising prices in the world commodity markets.
The dynamics of the index will be affected by restrained activity in some types of economic operations. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
