The annual inflation rate continues its downward trend, recording in December 2025 the lowest value of that year, at 6.8%. The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) unveiled data to this effect.
According to the cited source, in last December, compared to November 2025, average consumer prices increased by about 0.9%. This was triggered by higher prices for services provided to the population – up by about 3.5%, which led to an increase in average consumer prices of 1.0%.
On the other hand, average prices for food products decreased by about 0.1% and for non-food products – by about 0.2%, contributing to an overall reduction in average consumer prices of almost 0.1%.
On the concerned period, vegetables recorded the largest price decreases – down by 1.8%, and fruits – down by 1.0%. At the same time, in December 2025, more significant increases in average consumer prices were registered for hen eggs – up by 2.8%, and for vegetable oil, milk and dairy products – up by 0.4% each.
For non-food goods, more substantial cuts in average consumer prices were recorded for fuels – down by 2.0% (including diesel – down by 6.5% and petrol – down by 2.1%). (Moldpres)
