On July 9, the first foreign representative office of JSC Ukroboronprom was opened in Washington. Its main task is to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the defence industry. In particular, it is aimed at interaction with local businesses and expert organisations, cooperation with government agencies and defence organisations, and support of Ukroboronprom enterprises’ projects in the United States and partner countries.
“We are grateful to our American partners for their support and believe that the work of the representative office is an important step to strengthen our cooperation. Currently, Ukrainian companies already have a number of arrangements in principle with their American counterparts. Ukroboronprom’s representative office in the United States will help speed up their implementation and strengthen the integration of Ukrainian defence into NATO’s defence industrial base,” said the Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin.
The opening ceremony was attended by teams from the Ministry of Strategic Industries, Ukroboronprom, and representatives of U.S. government agencies.
The representative office will focus on finding investment opportunities and potential military-technical partners in the United States. One of the priorities is the latest military technologies, their search and effective implementation. Another is to ensure interaction between Ukrainian and foreign teams to manage joint ventures.
“We are interested in deepening cooperation with U.S. arms manufacturers to facilitate technology transfer, develop joint projects and attract investment. These may be ammunition, air and missile defence systems, electronic warfare, etc. We have a lot to offer our overseas colleagues as Ukrainian specialists have a unique and successful experience in manufacturing and restoring weapons and military equipment gained during the full-scale war with russian invaders,” said Ukroboronprom Director General Herman Smetanin.
