Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Serhii Derkach met with Flix CEO Andre Schwammlein and Flix CIO Daniel Krauss.
The key topics addressed at the meeting were the growing need for the development of passenger transport in Ukraine and the implementation of international bus transport reform, the development of mobility, domestic and international transport links, the integration of the Ukrainian passenger transport market into the EU and the possibility of implementing joint projects.
“As part of the reform of international bus transportation, we continue to engage in dialogue with carriers and transport companies to find the best solutions to the problems of passengers, carriers and the state. First and foremost, we are talking about quality services for passengers, and here it is worth noting the service of FlixBus, which has standards and provides a comfortable service during the trip. FlixBus has not stopped providing services in Ukraine for a single day since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and has launched a programme to support Ukrainian passengers, which is extremely valuable. Equally important is supporting the economy, creating jobs and paying taxes. To do this, we, for our part, must ensure equal and competitive conditions for access to the market and the operation of carriers, and the market must operate with integrity,” said Serhii Derkach during the meeting.
During the conversation, they discussed, among other things, the specifics of opening international and domestic routes in Ukraine, the difficulties of Ukrainian regulation and the experience of regulating this area in other countries.
According to Andre Schwammlein, the principle of building a FlixBus network in each country is to cooperate with local bus partners, creating jobs in these countries and contributing to local budgets with taxes. In Ukraine, the company already cooperates with 13 local carriers on 26 international routes, has its own office in Ukraine and employees, as well as a large local IT team involved in the development of the global Flix platform. The CEO of the company expressed his readiness for further development in Ukraine and his hope for further reforms in the passenger transport sector. (Government portal)
