On April 6, due to grid restrictions on the transmission system operator’s lines, outage schedules were applied in Kharkiv region. On April 7, the restrictions prolong: in the morning, outage schedules were in effect in the Kharkiv region, and 410,000 customers were without power.
There was no shortage of electricity in the integrated power system of Ukraine. Due to the sunny weather and, accordingly, active power generation by SPPs (Solar Power Plants), the transmission system operator limited the production of electricity from renewable sources to a total of 855 MWh. Ukraine’s power system is operating in a stable and balanced manner.
A nighttime enemy attack damaged the equipment of a high-voltage substation in Kharkiv region. A fire broke out, and the State Emergency Service was called in to extinguish it. A high-voltage overhead line was switched off in an emergency and was brought back online. Schedules of emergency power outages were used to prevent the emergency.
The shelling in Kharkiv region also resulted in the disconnection of a high-voltage power line, which cut off power to a substation and household consumers.
In Sumy region, a substation was de-energised during the shelling and household consumers were cut off (all of them were soon connected to the grid under a backup scheme).
One of the high-voltage overhead lines in Donetsk region was disconnected. The output of the power generating company connected to it was briefly reduced. The cause of the outage is being investigated.
High-voltage overhead lines were disconnected in Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions. Both lines are back in operation.
On April 6, engineers repaired and reconnected the 330 kV Zaporizhzhia TPP-Ferrosplavna overhead line, which was a backup power source for the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. It was damaged during the enemy shelling on April 4. Currently, the plant is powered by both overhead lines – the main 750 kV Zaporizhzhia NPP-Dniprovsk and the backup 330 kV Zaporizhzhia TPP-Ferosplavna. (Government portal)
