Latvia’s national airline Air Baltic has offered the Lithuanian and Estonian governments to buy its shares, the Estonian Postimees news website has reported.
Martin Gauss, the company’s board chairman, said he had met Lithuanian Transport Minister Marius Skuodis and Estonian Climate Minister Kristen Michal and briefed them on Air Baltic’s initial public offering (IPO) plans.
“We had such talks, and that’s all I can say,” he told Postimees.
Lithuania’s Transport and Communications Ministry has refrained from commenting when approached by BNS.
In January, Skuodis said that Lithuania was considering the possibility of buying Air Baltic shares, adding that the possible terms of the deal were being discussed.
Offering flights from all three Baltic capitals, Air Baltic in September hired financial advisers for its upcoming IPO, which was expected in the second half of this year. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
