Lithuania has displayed a high level of solidarity and support for Ukrainians in their struggle for freedom and independence against russian invaders.
At a meeting with the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Simonyte on November 24, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal thanked the Government and people of Lithuania for their assistance.
“Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, Lithuania has provided assistance to Ukraine worth more than EUR 1 billion. In recent months, we have also received armoured vehicles, ammunition, radar equipment and marine radars. In November, Lithuania handed over two launchers of the NASAMS air defence system. They are already on alert,” said Denys Shmyhal.
In addition, the Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the positive consideration of the request to provide Ukraine with Lithuanian-made electronic warfare equipment to counter russian drones.
In turn, Lithuania is also laying the groundwork for long-term military support for Ukraine. Thus, according to Ingrida Simonyte, her country plans to approve a three-year plan for military and other kinds of assistance to Ukraine, which will include treatment and rehabilitation, training of the military, humanitarian and military demining, as well as repair of military equipment.
