The restoration of irrigation systems in southern Ukraine is an important element of support for the Ukrainian agricultural sector. The Kakhovka HPP has played and will continue to play an important role in this regard, the Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has emphasized.
At the Government’s meeting on July 18, a resolution was adopted on a pilot project to start rebuilding the Kakhovka HPP, which was blown up by russia.
“The project will last for two years. In the first stage, we will design all the engineering structures and prepare the necessary basis for the restoration. The second stage will begin after the de-occupation of the territories where the hydroelectric power plant is located. It involves the actual construction work,” said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, the project will be coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, and the client will be the state-owned company Ukrhydroenergo. The decision to prepare for the restoration was made after consultations with experts and specialists. According to the Head of Government, the rebuilding of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant will increase Ukraine’s economic potential in both the agricultural and energy sectors.
