The effectiveness of international law on navigation is a globally important security factor, Volodymyr Zelensky has said in a video address.
“The world knows what a fundamental role our maritime grain exports play for food security. Security in the Black Sea and the effectiveness of international law on navigation are globally important security factors,” the Head of State emphasized.
The President noted that all the maritime countries of the world now saw what could threaten their ports and waters if Russia got away with blocking navigation in the Black Sea.
“Let me give you just one example. Currently, out of the three ports that were agreed upon as part of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the Pivdennyi port is actually blocked,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, he added, more than one and a half million tons of agricultural products had been accumulated there.
According to Zelensky, at least ten countries are expecting this grain, including Turkiye, Egypt, Bangladesh and China.
“It is obvious: the less food is supplied to these countries, to these regions, the higher the food prices are, the more people in these countries lose from their family budgets,” the Head of State explained.
That is, Zelensky noted, the blocking of one port in Ukraine creates extremely serious risks for different nations, including those with whom Russia is trying to speculate.
The President thanked everyone who was helping Ukraine increase its security space in the Black Sea and putting pressure on Russia to unblock food supplies.
He also informed that during his working visit to Odesa, he held a meeting on the development of Ukrainian port infrastructure. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
