Following negotiations with the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure and the leadership of the Lublin Voivodeship, the traffic at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing point was unblocked. On May 15, truck traffic resumed as usual.
“The 10-day strike caused significant losses for our carriers and exporters. However, we managed to find a solution and agree to unblock the traffic. I am grateful to our Polish colleagues for the joint decision and the return to the implementation of the provisions of the ‘transport visa-free regime’ and the agreements on the Yahodyn-Dorohusk crossing capacity,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
On May 7, the ministry decided to temporarily suspend the requirement of permits for Polish carriers transporting goods from any EU country to Ukraine. This was one of the main demands of the Polish strikers. At the same time, the Ministry’s position is that such transportations require permits and are not bilateral. A clarification from the European Commission is currently awaited. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
