Poland’s unemployment is expected to stay unchanged in the next few months, a deputy family and social policy minister has said.
In March, Poland’s unemployment rate stood at 5.4%, down by 0.1% MoM and by 0.4% YoY.
Stanislaw Szwed said on April 10 that “unemployment will most likely remain at the current level in the coming months.”
He also cited Eurostat’s February data showing Poland as the second European country in terms of low unemployment at 2.8%.
“We are slowly coming out of the winter season, which is the most difficult one on the labour market. At the moment, new job offers are appearing, although, on the other hand, there are also notifications of group redundancies, not many yet, but they also appear,” Szwed added.
According to him, there are industries in Poland where there is still a shortage of labour force, such as drivers and construction workers.
According to the Family and Social Policy Ministry’s estimates, at the end of March number of registered unemployed decreased to 848,300 from 864,800 at the of end February.
In March, employers submitted 94,700 job offers, up by 700 MoM, the ministry said. (PAP/Business World Magazine)
