Lithuanian Transport Minister Marius Skuodis will travel to Warsaw by train on the new Vilnius-Kaunas-Mockava-Warsaw route, which was launched in December last year.
His trip using the newly launched connection is expected to highlight the project’s significance. Meanwhile, Rail Baltica, a European-gauge railway due to link the Baltic States and Poland, is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
Rail Baltica is significant both for passenger and cargo transport, as well as for military mobility.
According to a press release from the ministry, Skuodis will attend a conference where political, military and transport leaders and experts will discuss the development of railways in the Three Seas Region, which consists of 12 EU countries located between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic seas.
As part of his visit, Skuodis is scheduled to meet with Catherine Trautmann, the European Commission’s coordinator for the European standard-gauge railway project Rail Baltica, and Marcin Horala, secretary of state of the Polish Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy, as well as with LOT’s top executives.
