The Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and the firm Hyundai Rotem from South Korea will create a consortium to manufacture a Polish version of the Korean firm’s K2 tank.
PGZ’s CEO, Sebastian Chwalek said that the consortium should be formed until the end of this month.
Under a deal struck with Hyundai Rotem, Poland will buy 180 K2 tanks, which it will receive between 2022 and 2025. But the deal also allows for an adapted version of the tank, named the K2PL, to be produced in Poland.
The tank deal forms part of an extensive military upgrade programme in Poland resulting from possible threats connected with the Russia-Ukraine war. (The First News/Business World Magazine)
