Lithuania will send self-propelled mortars and armoured vehicles, as well as other necessary equipment, to Ukraine, Lithuania’s Defence Ministry has said.
“Lithuania continues and will continue to support Ukraine. We will provide the Ukrainian army with winter clothing and winter equipment, we will allocate additional funds for next year’s material support, we will provide 120 mm mortars, armoured vehicles, thermal imaging cameras, drones and other equipment,” Defence Minister Arvydas Anusauskas said after a meeting in Brussels.
On October 12, the minister attended a US-led Ramstein format meeting in Belgium that brought together defence ministers and military representatives of countries providing military support to Ukraine.
“Russia’s missile terrorist attack on Ukrainian civilian targets should be an incentive not to reduce the support provided,” Anusauskas said.
Lithuania will continue to train Ukrainians on a bilateral basis, with up to 400 more specialists expected to be trained before Christmas, according to the minister.
Lithuanian’s military assistance to Ukraine has so far included Stinger air defence systems, anti-tank weapons, armoured vests and helmets, 120 mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermal imaging cameras, drones, anti-drones, surveillance radars, M113 armoured personnel carriers, trucks, all-terrain vehicles and other support according to Ukraine’s needs, the ministry has said.
