The year-on-year price of bread rose by a third in Lithuania in August, according to Eurostat’s Monday data quoted by Reuters.
The highest increase in bread price was recorded in Hungary with 66%. Throughout the European Union, the price of bread rose by 18% in August.
The prices have been impacted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has led to the global disruption of food supply chains.
The lowest increase in bread prices was recorded in France at 8% and the Netherlands and Luxembourg at 10%. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
