The Bushtyno field will be used to produce industrial and edible salt in Zakarpattia region, and its production volumes may fully meet the country’s demand.
The relevant statement was made by Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration Head Viktor Mykyta on Facebook.
“Zakarpattia region is preparing to pick up the torch as the most powerful salt producer in Ukraine. Finally, we can announce that works have started within the Bushtyno community, Tiachiv district, as part of an investment agreement with Kation Invest LLC,” Mykyta wrote, adding that this case would allow up to 150,000 tons of salt to be produced within the Bushtyno field monthly.
According to Mykyta, after preliminary geological studies, a salt formation of 35 to 500 meters was revealed in Bushtyno.
Engineering works have already started to build an access road, mark drilling sites and arrange workplaces. Advanced deep industrial drilling equipment was purchased.
According to the expert estimates, the first salt volumes will be produced in six months. The field can fully meet Ukraine’s demand for industrial salt used for road operations in winter. Now the country’s demand for such salt is up to 450,000 tons per season.
Ukraine’s state-owned salt-producing enterprise Artemsil, situated in Soledar, Donetsk region, suspended operations due to continuous enemy shelling in April. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
