The prices of restaurant and hotel services, as well as cost of food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased in June MoM, according to the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The figures showed prices for restaurant and hotel services increased by 2.3%. This included increased prices for both accommodation (+5.5%) and catering services (+2%).
Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages marked a 0.1% increase, including: fruit and grapes (+2.2%), coffee, tea and cocoa (+1.2%), bread and cereals (+1%) and oils and fats (+0.9%).
An exception was observed in prices for vegetables, with a -4.2% decrease noted by the Office.
Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices increased by 0.7% in the measured period, with the former showing a 1.4% gain.
The figures also showed lowering healthcare costs in the country, with prices for medical products, appliances and equipment reduced by -0.8%.
Overall, in June the consumer price index increased by 0.2% MoM, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 12.8%.
“With regard to the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 5.8%, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 6.6%”, Geostat said.
As for annual inflation, prices increased in the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages (+21.8%), transport (+19.4%) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+13%). (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
