Legal alcohol consumption in Lithuania rose last year, with adults consuming 12.1 litres of pure alcohol per capita in 2021, up by 0.7% YoY.
Lithuania’s retailers and caterers sold 3.3 million decaliters of spirits (vodka, whiskey, brandy, etc.) last year, up by 11.8%, according to data by Statistics Lithuania.
Wine and fermented beverage sales increased by 14.2%, to 4.7 million decaliters.
Beer sales edged down by 1.3%, to 21.9 million decaliters.
The country’s production of spirits, as measured in absolute (100%) alcohol, grew by 15.2%, to 0.967 million decaliters.
The production of grape wine and vermouth increased by 9.1%, to 0.749 million deciliters, and the production of fermented beverages went up by 9.3%, to 4.6 million decaliters.
Beer production rose by 5%, to 33.6 million decaliters. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
