Meat production in Georgia increased in the first quarter of the year to 16.7 tons, or by 5.7% YoY, the latest preliminary data of the Georgian National Statistics Office showed along with a decrease in milk production.
Geostat made available figures from the quarter that showed milk production decreased to 112.2 liters, or by 2.7%.
The number of cattle in Georgia has decreased by 0.1%, of which the total number of sheep and goats by 5.6%, pigs by 2.6% and birds by 9.2%. The number of cows stood at 468.000, equal to the corresponding figure of last year.
A total of 165.5 million eggs were produced during the reported period, down by 3.4%, Geostat announced. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
