According to Statistics Estonia, in March, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 7.8% at constant prices compared to March 2021. Output increased in all three sectors: by 6.6% in manufacturing, by 5.2% in mining and by 21.3% in energy production.
According to Helle Bunder, analyst at Statistics Estonia, production volumes increased in most manufacturing activities. Among the activities with the largest shares, there was an increase in production in the manufacture of electronic products (+5.9%), fabricated metal products (+11.8%), food products (+3.9%) and manufacture of wood (+9%).
Production volumes decreased in the manufacture of chemical products (-6.4%) and shale oil (-5.4%).
67.1% of the total production of manufacturing was sold to the external market. The share of export sales was the highest in the manufacture of computers and electronic products. According to unadjusted data, the export sales of manufacturing production increased by 26.8% and domestic sales by 35.9% at current prices compared to March 2021.
In March compared to February, the seasonally adjusted total industrial production increased by 5.1% and the production of manufacturing by 2.5%.
In energy production, compared to March 2021, the volume of electricity production (in megawatt-hours) increased by 88.7% and the production of heat decreased by 7.5%. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
