About 1.37 million Georgian resident visitors aged 15 years and higher made 1.57 million trips within Georgia in the third quarter of 2021, up by 20.1% YoY, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) reported.
Geostat reported that the monthly average of tourist trips made by Georgian residents totaled 813,500 in the third quarter, up by 22.6%.
“In the third quarter, 38.2% of trips were made by tourists 31-50 years of age; 55.4% of total visitors were women,” Geostat says.
45.1% of visitors were residents of the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, while 12.2% of domestic visitors came from the Imereti region.
The top reasons for domestic travel were: visiting friends/relatives – 41%, visiting another property (summer cottage, house, etc.) – 18.3%, holiday/leisure/recreation – 14.1%, health and medical care – 9.2%, business or professional – 2.2%, religion/pilgrimage – 0.8% and education/trainings – 0.3%.
The majority of visitors went to Tbilisi (average 306,600 visits per month) and the Imereti region (280,300 visits per month).
The monthly average expenditure during these trips equaled 320.7 million GEL, up by 46.3%. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
