Lithuania’s major supermarket chains say they will not work on December 25 and many will cut working hours during the holiday period.
The majority of supermarkets will also be closed on January 1, 2022 although some Iki or Rimi stores will stay open with shorter opening hours.
On December 31, Iki, Norfa and Lidl stores will be open until 20:00, and Maxima and Rimi stores will work longer, until 21:00.
Shoppers are advised to check opening times on the other days as some stores may close earlier.
Spokespeople for the supermarket chains say they want to give their workers time off during the holidays and advise shoppers to shop in advance in order to avoid queues. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
