Average labor income in Lithuania grew by 161 euros, or by 11.4% YoY in the third quarter, to 1,572 euros before tax, according to figures presented on November 25 by Lithuania’s Social Insurance Fund Board, Sodra.
Meanwhile, labor income after tax increased by 95 euros, or by 10.5 %, to 998 euros. In August, average wage reached 1,000 euros, according to Sodra.
Kristina Zitikyte of Sodra’s Statistics, Analysis and Forecast Unit said key factors behind the growth included increases in the minimum wage and in the basic salary rate for civil servants, and changes to the tax-exempt income calculation formula.
“However, real labor income in the third quarter was lowered by rising prices,” she told reporters on November 25.
The biggest salary increases, by 18% on average, were enjoyed in the public administration sector, including ministries, audit services and other public institutions. Salaries in the state border guard service rose from 1,607 euros to 1,927 euros before tax. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
