In August, actual unemployment rate comprised 6.9%, down by 0.6% MoM.
The actual unemployment rate in the country has not been this low since December 2019 (6.6%).
The unemployment rate for females decreased by 0.4%, to 5.7% in August, and for males by 0.7%, to 8.1%, according to Data of the Labor Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau.
The unemployment rate registered by the State Employment Agency was 6.5%, down by 0.6% MoM.
Compared to August of the previous year, the actual unemployment rate has decreased by 1.5% and the registered unemployment rate – by 1.7%.
In August, there were 64.7 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (26.8 thousand females and 37.9 thousand males), down by 5.5 thousand MoM and by 17.1 thousand YoY. The number of unemployed females has decreased by 1.8 thousand from July to August and the number of unemployed males – by 3.7 thousand.
The number of unemployed persons has decreased by 10.9 thousand since the declaration of the second state of emergency in November 2020, when several face-to-face services were restricted. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
