The situation with Latvia’s state budget is good at the moment, Minister of Finance Janis Reirs has said.
“If we look at data from the first half-year and July, the situation looks good. Revenue is up by about 6% when compared to last year and 1.7% ahead of planned budget revenue,” said Reirs.
The minister also said that, considering the ratio of vaccinated people in Latvia, the country’s economy would not be closed down again if a new Covid-19 wave hit.
“47% of Latvia’s adult residents have vaccinated for Covid-19. I think this is the reason why we have no plans to close down the economy. We will do this only if the situation becomes critical,” said Reirs.
According to information from the State Treasury, the state budget revenue for 2021 is planned at EUR 9.629 billion. Budget revenue for the first seven months is estimated at EUR 6.08 billion.
Tax revenue is expected at EUR 4.928 billion this year and EUR 3.07 billion in the first seven months. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
