In the first half of 2021, the total number of transactions involving payment cards issued by Ukrainian banks amounted to 3,598.3 million, while their volume was UAH 2,305.9 billion, up by a third YoY.
The total number of transactions (non-cash and cash) with payment cards issued by Ukrainian banks in the first half of 2021 amounted to 3,598.3 million, while their volume stood at UAH 2,305.9 billion. The number and volume of these transactions increased by a third (31.2% and 29.2%, respectively).
In the first half of the year, non-cash transactions confidently prevailed among all transactions with payment cards in terms of number and volume.
Nine out of ten transactions were non-cash (almost 90% of the total number of payment card transactions). The share of non-cash transactions in terms of their volume was 60.6% of all card transactions. In the same period last year, these shares stood at 86.1% and 55.1%, respectively.
In general, in January-June, the number of non-cash transactions involving payment cards increased by a third (36%), amounting to 3,220 million, with their volume increasing by 42%, to UAH 1,398.2 billion.
Analysis of the distribution of non-cash transactions by their types showed that in January-June, as before, most card transactions by the number were payments across retail chains (51%, or 1.642 million transactions) and by volume – card-to-card transfers (43%, or UAH 604 billion).
The average receipt per transaction in the retail network in the first half of the year amounted to UAH 231 (a year ago it was UAH 223), while the average card-to-card transfer transaction was UAH 1,441 (against UAH 1,420 a year ago).
The average volume of a single transaction on the Internet to pay for goods and services stood at UAH 404. Approximately a quarter of the number and volume of all non-cash transactions with a payment card this year via the Internet was to pay for goods and services (26% and 24%, respectively). This is almost UAH 338.7 billion in January-June.
