Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $7.48 billion in January-July, up by 21.7% YoY, preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) showed.
The value of exports increased by 27.8% and totaled $2.27 billion, while imports increased by 19.3%, amounting to $5.20 billion.
The trade deficit of Georgia in January-July amounted to $2.93 billion, or 39.2% of total trade turnover.
In the reporting period Georgia’s top trading partners by exports were China ($370.5 million), Russia ($322.7 million) and Azerbaijan ($295.3 million), while top trading partners by imports were Turkey ($917.4 million), Russia ($545.3 million) and China ($459.4 million).
The top trading partners in the total external trade of Georgia were: Turkey ($1.10 billion), Russia ($868 million) and China ($829.9 million).
The top three export items were: copper ores and concentrates – $465.9 million, 20.5% of total exports, motorcars – $248.3 million, 10.9%, and ferroalloys – $228.5 million, 10%.
The top import commodities were: motorcars – $461.8 million, 8.9% of total imports, petroleum and petroleum oils – $405 million, 7.8%, and copper ores and concentrates – $395.6 million, 7.6%. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
