Lithuania has received a pre-financing payment of 289 million euros from the European Commission under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the Finance Ministry reports. This amounts to 13% of total allocations for Lithuania.
The pre-financing payment will help to kick-start the implementation of the crucial investment and reform measures outlined in Lithuania’s recovery and resilience plan, the EC says.
“The first disbursement for Lithuania will kick-start the implementation of a recovery and resilience plan built for success. NextGenerationEU is powering a more sustainable, a more digital and a more resilient future for Lithuania. An ambitious digitalisation plan and reforms in education and research will give a boost to Lithuania’s innovation and competitiveness,” EC President Ursula von der Leyen was quoted in a statement.
According to the Finance Ministry, the funds will be used to make a pre-payment for 200 MW batteries, as well as to upgrade government IT systems. Forty out of 325 state agencies will get their systems moved into a centralized cloud computing infrastructure.
The money will also be used to promote investments into scientific research, experimental development and innovation.
