As of August 16, the number of officially registered unemployed amounted to 315,000 people. This is 179,000 people or 36% less than on this date last year. The increase in employment and the decrease in the number of unemployed are the result of the introduction of government programs to support the development of the economy and business, the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko has said.
Oleksiy Lyubchenko also announced additional government measures to create jobs and employ the unemployed during the implementation of national targeted, regional, investment and other programs and projects the originators of which were public authorities.
“During the implementation of such programs and projects, a special emphasis is on the implementation of employment indicators, including the creation of new jobs. We will constantly monitor and control this process. The goal is for the economy to recover and the number of officially employed citizens must grow despite the challenges, such as possible new quarantine restrictions related to new coronavirus mutations both in Ukraine and in the world,” the First Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
