Consumer inflation in June was higher than the April forecast of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and came to 9.5% compared to June 2020, the central bank’s press service reported.
“In June, consumer inflation in annual terms remained at the level of the previous month – 9.5%. In monthly terms, prices increased by 0.2%. Consumer inflation was higher than the forecast published in the Inflation Report for April 2021, but the deviation decreased. The slowdown in crude food prices offset the effects of further increases in natural gas and sunflower oil prices, as well as increased fundamental inflationary pressures,” reads the report.
In June, core inflation accelerated to 7.3% YoY from 6.9% in May. Under the influence of high world food prices, as well as stable consumer demand, processed food products continued to rise in prices (by 12.1% YoY). (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
