Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has held an online meeting with Chief Operating Officer for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Stephanie Von Friedeburg.
The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects, as well as the development of cooperation between IFC and local governance. Shmyhal noted that due to the consulting and financial support of IFC, the work was underway to implement projects to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy, development of the banking sector and agricultural business.
“We are interested in expanding the horizons of our cooperation. We hope that our common intentions will be turned in new projects using public-private partnership instruments, in particular in the fields of energy and healthcare,” Shmyhal said.
The prime minister stressed that he supported enhancing cooperation with the IFC at the regional level.
“Today we already have several cities that are leaders in this cooperation. However, we also have cities that have extremely good conditions for attracting investment, improving infrastructure, including in the transport and municipal sectors. All this is possible due to the decentralization reform, when cities start learning how to manage their resources and their capabilities,” he said.
In addition, Shmyhal said he hoped that the IFC would further expand the direct funding for local authorities. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
