Ukraine’s gross public and publicly guaranteed debt in hryvnias is UAH 2.558 trillion, or more than $90 billion, and this amount is acceptable and has been agreed with all ministries and international partners, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
He said this during a question-and-answer session in parliament.
“As of late January, the amount of public debt was $90 billion. All the parameters of the budget, the state budget deficit and the loans that were to be taken last year have been fully complied with. Accordingly, this is a natural increase in public debt. It is within the parameters and within acceptable limits, agreed by all ministries, all our international partners. It is acceptable to international investors and does not exceed the amounts that complicate the servicing of public debt,” Shmyhal said.
According to him, as of the beginning of last year, public debt totaled about $85 billion. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
