The volume of bilateral trade between Ukraine and Pakistan in January-September amounted to $237.5 million, up 2.3-fold YoY, Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko said during a meeting with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine Noel Israel Khokhar.
“However, the potential of our cooperation is not fully used. Ukraine is ready to expand the export of agricultural products to the Pakistani market,” Petrashko said.
Also, according to him, the implementation of joint projects in the field of construction and agro-industrial complex is promising. The minister stressed that Ukrainian companies with a unique industrial complex could participate in large-scale projects in Pakistan, in particular, in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This will open a unique opportunity to enter the market of infrastructure and energy projects under CPEC.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of holding the first meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Pakistani Commission on Economic Cooperation, and resuming the work of the Ukrainian-Pakistani Business Council. They also expressed interest in intensifying mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, trade and investment. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
