The minimum wage in Ukraine will rise to UAH 6,000 from January 1, 2021 and to UAH 6,500 from December 1, 2021, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at a government meeting on December 2.
“The minimum wage, as promised, will rise to UAH 6,000 from January 1. The increase in the minimum wage to UAH 6,500 will be postponed until December 1 next year,” Shmyhal said.
Last week, the draft law “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021” was agreed with the International Monetary Fund, promptly adjusted for the second reading, and registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
The budget deficit for 2021 in the bill prepared for the second reading was reduced from 6% to 5.5% of GDP, to UAH 246.35 billion. One of the main compromises reached in negotiations with the IMF was that the increase in the minimum wage to UAH 6,500, which was to take place in July 2021, was postponed until December.
