In October, electricity consumption using local production sources in Latvia was covered by 54%, while in October 2019 it was possible to produce 83% of the electricity needed in the country, according to Latvia’s electricity market survey compiled by the country’s power transmission system’s operator AS Augstsprieguma tikls.
In October, 333,635 MWh of electricity was produced in Latvia, down by 2% MoM and by 35% YoY. Electricity consumption in October was 618,679 MWh – up by 10% MoM, but down by 1% YoY.
Although the volume produced by Daugava hydro-electric dam increased by 4% MoM, it declined by 25% YoY. The volume produced by thermal-electric power plants has reduced by 15% MoM and more than 2-fold YoY.
A 30% increase was observed at smaller CHP plants when compared to September and an 11% decline when compared to October 2019. A 10% increase MoM and a 14% decline YoY was observed at biomass power plants. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
