Sales of electric vehicles in Ukraine in July decreased by 6% YoY, to 799 units. The negative dynamics was obviously caused by confusion in the legislation, which became the result of a change in the system of codification of goods, the Ukrainian Association of Automobile Manufacturers Ukrautoprom said on Telegram.
“On June 4, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on the customs tariff, which changed from July 1 the codification of vehicles equipped exclusively with electric motors. At the same time, lawmakers forgot to correspondingly amend the Tax Code, which endangered the possibility of further exemptions from VAT,” it said.
The electric vehicles that were registered in Ukraine in July included 766 passenger cars and 33 commercial ones. The Nissan Leaf remains the most popular electric car on the Ukrainian market. Some 234 Nissan Leaf cars were registered in July. The Tesla Model 3 ranked second as its sales totaled 115 cars. Also, the top five electric cars include the Tesla Model S (98 vehicles); the Tesla Model X (45); and the Fiat 500e (38).
In total, 4,315 electric vehicles have been registered in Ukraine since the beginning of the year: 4,112 passenger cars, 202 commercial vehicles and one bus. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
