From July 1, Wizz Air will fly between Tallinn and Kyiv, Ukraine despite government restrictions still being in place for passengers flying from high-risk countries with coronavirus. Passengers may be denied entry without a permit.
Eero Pargmae, Commercial Director of Tallinn Airport, said the order restricting air traffic came from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications too late for the airline to have been able to cancel flights.
People wishing to enter Estonia from Ukraine must have a permit from the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA). Those who are allowed to enter must undergo a 14-day quarantine period.
Taivo Linnamae, Head of the Aviation and Maritime Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, said the flights from Kyiv to Tallinn and from Tallinn to Kyiv took place on July 1 for commercial reasons of the airline.
On June 30, the government decided to extend the restriction on opening routes for passengers in high-risk countries until July 14. These countries include Sweden, Portugal, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.
The restrictions are based on the common morbidity rate set by the Baltic health ministers, which is the rate of coronary heart disease, which must be 25 people per 100,000 inhabitants as of the last 14 days or relaunching direct flights. (ERR/Business World Magazine)
