The situation in Ukraine’s economy is extremely difficult due to lockdown measures aimed at combating the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.
He said that lockdown measures had the greatest impact on micro, small and medium-sized businesses.
“We do not underestimate the situation regarding how many people lost their jobs today, and we have 100,000 unemployed registered at employment centers. We are ready to support low-income families,” Shmyhal added.
He said that the government was in dialogue with small and medium-sized businesses on keeping people at work and on possible compensation for this in the form of interest rates in banks. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
