The former Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, Tymofiy Mylovanov criticized the proposal of the Government of Ukraine to temporally close all enterprises in the country, in order to stop the further spread of coronavirus.
In particular, the ex-minister believes that such measures will have negative consequences for the country’s economy.
According to Mylovanov, the mass shutdown of enterprises will become a “suicide” for the economy. The enterprises pay taxes and fill the state budget. There are many ways to work during any crisis. Remote work is one of them. At the same time, if the complete switch to remote work is impossible, one does not need to close the company. The enterprises and organizations can be switched to the lower capacities, so that there will be significantly fewer workers, and the risk of spreading the virus will be reduced. Then the enterprises will not be completely stopped, and employees will receive some part of the salary, and the taxes will be paid.
The expert believes that such measures will allow companies to resume operations in full after the end of the crisis, as opposed to the complete stoppage. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
